African Clawed Frogs are sexually mature  between 10 months to 1 year of age. The females get 'dirty hands'. I have noticed these on my females when they were about 2" svl. Females also have an extension at their rear called a cloaca. This is where eggs and waste are passed out of.  When the female lays eggs, she can lay several, or hundreds! These eggs stick to everything, as they have a yolk sac protecting them; which in turn the tadpoles feed off of as they grow. The males get 'nuptial pads'. The males forearms and hands turn black. I also noticed these pads when the males were about 2"svl.The males will 'sing' for a female when they want to mate. Females will respond back to either accept or reject the male. I have heard my females get pretty vocal at times with the males. The males have a flat rear.

<   In this picture you can see Boomer's hands around   Frogger's waist.  The male squeezes the female to get the eggs out, and then they are fertilized by the male. The female has a cloaca, in through which the eggs are released. I have noticed that prior to the male going after a female to mate, that his hands and forearms get very black. Then a few days later, that coloring fades. Very interesting.
