How To Ship A Frog
My Pet Frog
MATERIALS TO GATHER:

1.  Box-  Appropriate size for # of frogs shipping.
2.  Heaters or Chillers-  Depending on time of year. Get them at a
sporting goods store. **For 60 Hr heat packs, buy them @
www.carolinapetsupply.com.
3.  Packing Peanuts - Lightweight, less expensive toward shipping cost.
4.  Gladware Container - I highly recommend these as they come in a
variety of sizes.
5.  Rubber bands- I like using at least 2 of them to extra-secure the
container.
6.  Spaghnum Moss- Get it at a petshop, this kind is safe for frogs.
7.  Mailing tape - To secure box.

THE NIGHT BEFORE:

1  Soak a small handful of moss in water that contains some Stress Coat
& aquarium salt.
2.  Feed your frog well.
3.  Prepare the cardboard box by poking holes  in the sides of the box
with an icepick.
4.  Poke holes from the INSIDE of the gladware lid, so that the rough
edges are on the outside of the lid, away from the frog.

THE DAY OF SHIPPING:

1. Get the box, and take a warmer or chiller (depending on time of year),
remove it from wrapper to activate it. Then place it in the bottom of the
box. Most of these have an adhesive side, so you may be able to stick it
right on the bottom of the box.
2.  Add 2-3" of packing peanuts. **The idea here is to have the gladware
container in the center of the box, surrounded by the peanuts, so use
your judgement.
3.  Gently squeeze out the moss. You want it wet, but not dripping wet.
Place the moss in the gladware.
4.  Put the frog quickly into the container and close the lid. Make sure it
is snapped shut. Secure the gladware with rubber bands.
**I lay a kitchen
towel in my sink and do the transfer of the frog into the gladware,in the
sink. (as it can be tricky, for example, if the frog were to jump out)
. Have a
couple of moistened paper towels handy to grab your frog if necessary
.
5.  Place the gladware in the packing box. Continue filling the box with
peanuts. You do not want the gladware moving around in there, so fill
the box with peanuts.
6. Seal the box up. Using a red marker, and write the words, 'FRAGILE' &
'LIVE ANIMAL' on at least 2 sides of the box.
7. Be sure to ship OVERNIGHT, to ensure your froggie makes it.
*I highly
recommend you ship first thing on a Monday morning, to be sure of
week-day delivery.

See step-by-step pictures below:
< Step 1: With an ice pick, make holes on each side of the box for air circulation.
Step 2 : Add the heat/cold  pack (depending on time of year) to bottom of
box, it should have an adhesive backing, if not, that's ok-just lay it on
bottom of box.                >
< Step 3: Add the pre-soaked moss to container, filling about half -full. Dont pack the
moss in tightly, we want it to be loose so the frog can move around a little. It is ok if the
moss is dripping wet, we want to frog to stay moist during shipping.  Just dont fill the
container with water.
Step 4: With an ice-pick, make holes from  inside of the lid, so that
sharp edges are not near frog.                                                         >
< Step 5: fill box 1/2 way will packing peanuts.
Step 6 : After you have frog in container, secure with
rubber bands. >
< Step 7 :  Place container in middle of box. Fill the rest of the box up with
packing peanuts, covering the frog container. it is a good idea as well to place your
address and the receivers address on a piece of paper, inside the package.
Step 8: Seal up box with mailing tape. Do not use duct tape or scotch tape.
Make sure labels are very neatly written out. Put your phone number on the
return label in the event of an emergency.                                     >
< Step 9 : BE SURE to mark the box 'LIVE ANIMAL" & 'FRAGILE' on several sides
of the box. *If you do not mark 'Live Animal' on box, and the package is sent by
plane, it will be placed in a regular cargo-hold without oxygen.
BE SURE TO USE OVERNIGHT DELIVERY!
ALSO, IT IS BEST TO SHIP ON A MONDAY
THIS WAY THERE IS NO CHANCE FOR YOUR
FROG TO BE HELD SOMEWHERE OVER THE
WEEKEND.
